Hello,
This is just a brief note to let you know that I won't be continuing with this blog into the future. It's been great and certainly was one of the things that kept me going with photography in the early days - but I just don't seem to have the time I would want to put into it lately so I am going to let it go. If you are interested in following my journey with photography you can like me on facebook.
Thanks to you all who supported me in this and commented on my photos...I have very much appreciated your support.
Until next,
Patty

Finders Keepers
I got up early this morning to try and take something in the early morning light...it was raining, I tried anyway and the photos I took turned out pretty crappy. Not being one to give up I tried again and this is what I got.
I think I may do a series as a redhead because red is a pretty fun hair colour.
I bought these shirts for Alex several years ago...so far I've been the only one to wear them.
As you can see, the light blue one got a little muddy with all the rain and wind in the early morning.
Mud and I are becoming fast friends.

Spare Tire
My mother in law has been storing her spare tires in our basement for the longest time...and today I thought of a way to put one to use.
It's a beautiful, sunny but cooooold Sunday here.

The Graveyard Shift
"Idioms" is the theme for this Me Again Monday. I've already taken the shot I'm going to submit to the group - but more and more ideas keep occurring to me every day. This is one of them.
I'm pretty committed to trying every idea I think of...I figure that will keep them coming.
Some work. Some don't
I like how this turned out.
The flowers are mine - purchased at Value Village.
It was SO cold and windy out when I took this. I couldn't feel my fingers by the end of this.

Christmas Magic
That's the best way to describe the way it looks here right now.
And by here I mean right here - in our little stretch of forest. A few blocks away the snow has already melted. But here it is clinging to the trees like I've never seen it do before.
When I looked out this morning in the first light of dawn I couldn't believe that the snow was still hanging there - and I wanted to run outside and....I don't even know what. Like I was 5 again.
And then when I arrived home from work in the twilight it was like arriving home to some kind of magical fairyland. It's insane really.
Alex met me at the door when I got home and we both looked at each other and said...can you believe this?
It's rare and special.
And it's home.

The Morning After
Yesterday was dreary and rainy. This morning when I woke up I expected more of the same....and it seemed like it was dark forever - we are pretty clearly in the midst of the darkest before the solstice dawn.
When the sun finally did come up this is what the world looked like.
I wasn't feeling very well this morning...but regardless of that I grabbed my stuff and got out there.
This kind of snow is a rare occurrence.

Send me an Angel
Today we had a visit from a lovely family.
We don't see them as often as we'd like - but it's a total treat when we do.
And I was reminded that I never did post these shots taken in October....this is my friend Sisika who you may remember from an ealier photo shoot in August.
She makes a pretty believable angel, in my opinion.
And a BIG shout out to Tina's father!
Ophelia
So I had this idea that I wanted to do some shots inspired by pre-raphelite paintings of Ophelia.
But I lacked an outfit.
Then this weekend I took a little trip to our local thrift shop...and bam. There it was.
The only problem with this dress is that it doesn't actually fit me. It's about 2 sizes too small. But it doesn't look that way from the front...so there you have it. The magic of photography.
I didn't go so far as to show Ophelia in the throws of drowning...that swamp behind me is pretty swampy.
But you get the idea.
